Bucket List

Hey there friends!

It seems common practice to at least have the knowledge of what a bucket list is. It is essentially a list of experiences or goals you want to achieve throughout your life time.

I have never written a bucket list, nor have I much thought about what I would put on one. I of course have zero idea how much time I have remaining in this world and perhaps having some things to look forward to during this unknown period of time is something to consider. But what would I put on my list? What do I really want?

The truth is, I do not know.

Honestly, when I think of what I want, my mind just goes blank. So I shall proceed to make a list of random things that pop into my head and this shall be my bucket list:

  • Ride a horse on the beach
  • Visit Bruges
  • Finish writing a book
  • Get my writing published
  • Be Anxiety Free
  • Write a song
  • Be on TV for something really weird
  • Swim in the clearest ocean
  • Drink a cosmopolitan on a tractor
  • Make someone’s day
  • Have a poem written by me, framed and hung in a stranger’s home
  • Go to a music festival
  • Travel by boat
  • Be recognised for my writing
  • Own my own home
  • Holiday in the South of France
  • Paraglide
  • Receive some kind of award
  • Finally get over the past
  • Own a cape (preferably with pockets and perhaps a hood)
  • Visit a beach at least once a year
  • Grow my own sunflower
  • Be on the receiving end of a movie like romantic gesture

That is all that comes to mind. I really do not want anything more than just to enjoy the life I have, anything more is a bonus and I am grateful either way.

What about you? Have you got your own bucket list? What is on it? If you have not, what would you consider putting on there? Whatever it is, I hope your dreams come true no matter the size of the dream, if you really want it, go for it!

Some say to get the things we want in life, we have to be able to see visualize them, so here is a badly edited picture of me enjoying a Cosmopolitan atop a tractor.

Until next time, have a hug!

  1. I don’t have a bucket list either, but there are some things I’ve listed at least mentally. If I were to write out a bucket list, it would have many of the same bullets as yours, particularly a desire to be published and to have my poetry framed and hanging in someone else’s home. 🙂 May we both enjoy the fulfillment of at least some of these dreams!

  2. I don’t have a bucket list, but I do have a list in my journal for places I’d like to visit and while at one of them, do something out of my comfort zone. I would like to see the sun set/rise and maybe take myself to a concert.

  3. What an excellent post Sara. I don’t have a bucket list, yet l have friends who do. one friend that comes to mind – he and his wife have a travel bucket list. Both are in their 70’s, have worked all their lives and are now in retirement and enjoying the freedom of a life without corporate restriction on the routines.

I have led an active adventurous life, here writes a man who can get lost going around the corner so in many respects, some days are more adventurous than others purely by default!

But dreams and wish lists are a sign of positivity, they motivate the mind to inspire and create and, and yes make happen.

My salute to your dreams Sara 🙂

  4. Ha! I love the picture! I don’t have a list. I used to but life now is so very different. I married someone who just makes things happen, so I’ve done so much more in the last three years than I could ever have imagined. Now, what do I want? Probably simply to carry on loving my blogging and who knows, maybe something more will come of it later on … Having said that, your list is fabulous and definitely do the holiday in France … bliss!! ☀️☀️☀️

      1. Ha! I wish!! Just keeping my hopes and aspirations under control at the moment on a week by week basis so that hopefully I can achieve little things and slowly move onto bigger things. Sounds a bit pathetic but I’m on a mission to achieve! (It’s quite a novelty for me!) 😄

  5. Quite an interesting bucket list. What hits the reader is it’s simplicity, innocence in the desires😊

Many bullets match mine, many others have invoked thoughts to revise mine… The One really got me is – “Be on TV for something really weird”… Oh I would really love to do that😁

  6. I’m not a bucket list person either. Maybe because if I want something I focus on achieving it. Yes, there are some things it would be nice to do, but we might not be able to do these and instead get to do things we never really dreamed of, but loved achieving.

  7. Lol I love your bucket list. “Be Anxiety Free” yeah, that one would be on mine too. You get that cape! As a cape owner (black, with cowl hood and red satin lining)… they are awesome. Add in a wig and it’s perfect!

      1. I don’t unfortunately. And at the moment it’s currently packed with 80% of my belongings (including wigs) as we are living with in-laws due to having moved countries.

It’s lovely and thick and there are two slits where you can slip your arms through it you want.

      2. Yes thanks, it was a big change because of my anxiety but it wasn’t so different as it was just England to Northern Ireland. Where did you move from – to? (if you don’t mind me asking)

  8. Well if I had a bucket list, I add watching you drink a cosmopolitan on a tractor, to it. And speaking of booze. Have you ever tried a “Sidecar.” ‘Cause after I watched you drink that cosmopolitan on farm equipment, we find a bar…and we’d “Sidecar.” brandy, lemon juice, orange liqueur. It’s great, even for a straight bourbon drinker. Nice post.

  9. Love the tractor photo, hehe. I just wrote my first ever bucket list. I hope I don’t keep checking it every 5 seconds, but in a way, it will motivate me.
    Good luck with yours.
