Gamer Girl

If you have been following my blog for a while you may know that next to my passion for writing, I am an avid gamer. I have been playing video games for as long as I can remember and they have also been part of what spurs my imagination.

Video games come in all shapes and sizes and I think there is something for everyone out there. I am not tied to one particular genre. I love anything that can leave me lost in another world for a while, or a game that is simply relaxing and can take my mind off of stresses for a some time.
Video games have got a bad rep over the years; I do not know if this is still the case. I do recall being judged on spending my time playing games, which I do not understand. One could argue that watching a TV show or movie is just as much a “waste of time”. Do what you love I say and I love being able to delve into the mind of a creator in the form of a well constructed game.

My heart always has and always will be with point and click adventure games. I love to solve puzzles and progress, uncovering secrets along the way. Being taken on a journey with my favourite characters has always been a cherished past time for me.

The point of my post is that I have started a streaming channel on Twitch. There are a couple of reasons I have done this. Firstly, it is to share my love of gaming with others who love it too. Secondly, I am a very introverted person and I am hoping by putting myself out there it will help get me out of my shell and encourage me to be less shy. I really want to learn to be more open in as many ways as possible and so I thought I would give it a try. It might be something that I decide to take on as a hobby, but for now I am just trying it out to see if it is for me. Either way it will not prevent me from blogging. That is always my priority.

The games I tend to gravitate towards to are ones with immersive story lines, games that require a bit of brain power to progress in and also games that I can play without much thought so I can relax and enjoy. There will be a sprinkle of more fun and mindless games too. I try and stay away from scary content as I am not the bravest of hearts, but I want to try a bit of everything because there is so much out there. One of the first games I will be streaming is the newly released Detroit: Become Human, which I am really looking forward to playing.

I invite you to join me on my streaming journey. I would appreciate it immensely if you would follow me. I think it would be awesome to be able to interact with you live and show off a side of my personality that I might not be able to get across through my writing. I know video games are not for everyone, so I am not asking anybody to go out of their way. Any support would be appreciated in any form.

If gaming is not something you are interested, do not fear, I shall be back to my usual writings following this post.
Once again, thank you for being here with me on this journey and thank you for letting me try out new things. If you do give me a follow, let me know so I can be sure to thank you.

Until next time, Game On!

  2. Introvert…oh yeah, I saw the box face…nice job; but hard to play games while you’re wearing it huh.
You wrote a pretty good short story last month; and even if it was to close out April, that is not that long ago. But I remember when I was reading it that a sense of command came with it. I mean the story was masculine, dynamic, and seemed to compel the reader to see it through.
It’s not my favorite piece you’ve written, but it was certainly the most dominating creation you’ve posted here. Okay, I’ll go one further…even knowing that you wrote it, I felt like I was reading a tenured and seasoned writers’ first or maybe second draft.

So here’s what I’m saying…you’ve got all kinds of dynamic beings within you. So be nice and be shy when it benefits you, and be one of the gang when you’re with all of us (and when ever else you want, too).
I’ve gone from 3 months at writing 1000 words a day, down to 500 almost every other day.
Sometimes I’m sad that the story is lost, but Stephen King said to just dream it. If you can see it, then you can write it.

And trust me, everybody’s got the bonding thing going on. No matter how deeply someone buries it, it is innate. Therefore inevitable. Everyone will bond.
And young lady, you’ve got a lot to bring to the table. And it will never matter that you’re probably the most interesting person at everyone of your gatherings, it only matters if you enjoyed them. Life is very short, don’t waste it with people you don’t enjoy. And eat dessert first.

  3. I’ve been a gamer ever since I was about 5.

I actually collect games and consoles.

It’s not exactly the collection I dreamed of though. Not being able to justify spending too much money on it, I just convinced everyone I know to offload all their old consoles to me.

So I have a whoooole lot of crappy games for most consoles.

My prized possession in my copy of conkers bad fur day.

Still bust it out every now and then. Takes me back

  4. Good luck with your streaming!! My husband is about to try and start his own stream soon today. He is just testing all of the equipment first before he actually tries to keep an audience though. I think he plans on playing destiny. I love video games myself although I like nintendo more than anything. I just posted a bolg about how me and my husband grew closer because of video games actually. It’s all about Zelda lol. Again, Good luck with twitch!! 😀

      1. Ok he told me to let you know that he is still in the testing stages and we have to buy some more equipment before he can really get going with it. But his twitch account name is red_wing_death. He also has a eyesight disability so it makes it kind of hard for him to see sometimes so he may on occasion run into things and keep running because he thinks he is still going.. XD
But he quickly realizes what he is doing and moves on. Personally I think it will be good to have a little humor like that in his streaming! 😀
