Trying New Things (Digital Art)

If you have been with me a good while, you may know that I try to encourage myself to be creative in different ways. not all of my ventures are a success, but I try at least.

I tried my hand at digital art once or twice in the past, some of these I have shared with you previously. Since then, I have attempted once again to master the art of art. (See what I did there?)

Now, I do not think I will ever be an amazing artist, but I think I have reached a point where I have some kind of skill. Last month was very tough for me and my mental health took a bashing, drawing was the only thing that kept my mind engaged and distracted. I wanted to share these drawings with you. I hope you enjoy. If you happen to have any ideas for drawings, please share them, I am always willing to learn more!

Over this period, I learned to use layer, how to shade and I also learned the different files such as PNG and TIF. Knowing all of this made drawing a lot easier. I enjoyed all of these little projects, each one taking at least 4-6 hours to do. They are in order (mostly) of when I drew them, so I hope you can see improvement as you look through them all.

Lastly, I would like to share with you a little guy I worked on, who is now available on T-Shirts!

This is Greg the chicken and he was drawn to promote the song that I wrote. Of course as I sent Greg out into the world, I had to give him a backstory, so here it is:

This is Greg, he is a chicken who has eaten a few too many tacos and was feeling down about his round, jiggly size. One day, he attended a concert, headlined by DJ V Bizzle. He heard the song ‘Chicken Jiggle Jingle’ and was so inspired by the lyrics that he immediately learned to love himself just the way he is. As a memento, he purchase some sweet sweet Chicken Jiggle merch.

Now, this all started as a joke, but technically I am a published song writer with merchandise and you can own your very own Greg shirt! On a serious note, any money I make from this shirt will go towards publishing my book, so if you would like to support me, it would mean the whole world to me and you can get a pretty cool (If I do say so myself) shirt, to boot. I would actually like to represent the shirt myself, but unfortunately, it is not available to ship to Sweden, just my luck! If by any divine miracle, you end up purchasing one of these shirts, I would love to know and I would doubly love to see a picture of you wearing it.

The shirt is available to buy for US and UK residents (Sorry rest of the world, I am working on it!) Links are as follows:

Speaking of my book, it is still in the works and has received a new lease of life this last week. I have managed to figure out some tricky details and now the narration runs a lot smoother than previously, which I am ecstatic about! I honestly did not realise how much work writing a book entailed, but I am very much enjoying the journey and I hope when the time comes to release, you do too!

Until next time, thank you for your continued support.

  1. Kudos, for trying new things, for writing songs, for writing a book, for having merchandise… I wish I had more time to see more posts of yours and check out everything.
What is the book about? Do you mean to self-publish it?

      1. I’ve done some research. Do you know Tim Grahl? I should write you an email,to give you an excerpt of what I’ve learnt. But now I’m at work,so please remind me if I don’t write it over weekend. Just reply to this. I don’t read the mail so often but I get comments on the phone.

    1. Hey Oscar. I appreciate that, thank you. It’s definitely worth trying. I’m only at that stage where I need tons and tons of references to draw anything, I can’t draw from my own imagination yet, but I’ll keep trying. There are so many programs out there which are free, so it’s worth giving it a go if you’re interested. I used Autodesk Sketchbook on my laptop and used my mouse. I’m pretty sure that you can get it on tablets too. I’m happy to talk you through what I’ve learnt so far that Make learning digital art easier. 🙂

      1. I may sometime I really appreciate the offer! But at the moment I’m so busy with other things that I worry about taking up the practice without committing at least some of my focus to trying to improve at it haha maybe I’m being overly worried about it. I’ve heard that doodling is really good for you, I’m trying to remember where specifically I had read that recently. Maybe I just dreamt it haha I’m not sure but thanks so much once again and happy creating =)
